As an aviation worker for the last 15 years, I have bee blessed to travel the world, appreciated the reach culture, diversity and amazing creativity. The inspiration for MAYA started on March 2019 on one of my long flights while sharing ideas and aspirations with my fellow crew, it was on this flight where i felt the desire to work on a design and print the unique flower known as ‘ADEY ABEBA’
This beautiful deep yellow endemic flower which blooms during the Ethiopian new year celebration, September 11th in the Gregorian calendar and (Meskerem 1st in Ethiopian calendar)
we started with a sketch to bring out the unique shape and fresh look, also created a variety of designs including he flower patterns and Amharic poetry with inspiring and uplifting words as we proudly refer to our scarves the Golden Cape For Woman. with the help of amazing team, we finally launched on September 2019
At the time , only a limited number of prints were create but with a huge outpour of support from friends and family across the globe we had the privilege of reaching lots of destinations and got enormous admiration. We are now excited and ready to showcase MAYA’S newest addition of scarves and jewelry designs
